Hi Folks,

Today, Emily and I went to get a hi-res ultrasound. Amazing is as close as I can come to describing it, but the word is inadequate to convey the emotion… it was beyond words. All of the images can be found here. A technician did most of the work, and a doctor came in a took a peek and gave us the word: they’re girls! Woo hoo! (Guess I’d better go get a shotgun to keep the boys away) The machine and software they used blew me away, even down to the way they sampled the image to ascertain the heart rate… very cool, very slick!

Everything looked fine with them, and they were fairly active. Little hearts beating at 150 and 149 bpm, which is normal. We got some sweet profile shots, and the technician was very polite and kind and, by necessity, remained a bit distant from telling us too much about what she was seeing.

The doctor pointed out the main things we should be looking for in the images the technician took, picked up the wand to the machine, zeroed-in, and said “Well, this one’s a girl,” wiggles the wand a bit more and within ten seconds he said:”This one too!” We are elated.
